     Reading Notes:

     * Bharata returns and finds his father dead and Rama exiled.

     * Sets out into the jungle to find Rama.

     * Finds him, but Rama refuses to return to the kingdom. He still wishes to fulfill his deceased father's wishes. 

     * Rama and company pass through a few jungle hermitages, meeting different sages and ascetics along the way. Some give him and his brother powerful celestial weapons. 

     * They battle a demon who tries to run off with Sita. They kill him and bury him, freeing him from a curse. The demon rises to heaven. 

     * They meet Ravana's sister who tries to seduce Rama. Rama refuses. 

     * Ravana's sister goes to one of her brothers. He first sends fourteen rakshasas after Rama. Rama kills them.

     * They send an army of 14,000 rakshasas after Rama. Rama kills the whole army alone as his brother and Sita watch from a mountain cave. 

     * Ravana acts on a plan to disguise and a deer and steal Sita.

     * Sita is stolen after Ravana kills the Vulture King who comes to her defense. 

     * Sita drops jewels down to monkeys on mountaintops so Rama can trace her path. 

     * Rama and Lakshmana come to a long-abandoned hermitage and meet an old sage woman who blesses them. They then perform her funeral rites and cremation. 

     * Ravana tries to seduce Sita at his palace in Lanka. 

     * Rama and Lakshmana seek out the ape-king.
